WORDS CRAZY KIYA RE…
Using words loosely can land you into trouble.
Two recent incidents provide ample proof.
Uproar over minister’s remarks in Orissa assembly, bedlam in UP, Assemblies too over Amar Singh’s statements. All this because of words ‘loosely’ used. Another incident had Prince Harry landing himself into double trouble. Once when he made derisive remarks about a classmate who was a Pakistani when he called him “my Paki friend” and another officer, “You look like a raghead”. And second time when he told a comedian of some repute that he did not “sound like a black chap”. Of course he got a lot of flak from the media. That’s when the royal family’s PR machinery got cracking and the latest is that the young prince will be undergoing training.
Prince Harry has been ordered by his army bosses to enroll in equality and diversity lessons. The sessions are the disciplinary actions aimed at streamlining his behavior!
Of course you can find innumerable instances of celebrities and prominent people putting their foot in their mouth. And apology follows which may or may not redeem the situation.
But frankly at our level, people like us, how many times do we use words loosely? We may not mean something but our words are taken the wrong way? And, then do we apologise?
