   EACH, EACH... [28/02 01:28PM]

Strange - ajeeb are the ways of this world. And stranger are some people’s intentions. I mean dying intentions. Under the strangest of circumstances. What we, lesser mortals could not imagine nor fathom!

I’ve heard of narcissism. I’ve heard of exhibitionism. But I couldn’t figure out where to categorize this.

Read about this woman who is terminally ill with an inoperable brain tumour, who is spending ₤ 40,000 on plastic surgery so that she can die looking like Demi Moore. It’s my way of getting the control back in my life, she explained. And that’s just not it, she’s planning to go under the knife - liposuction, breast enhancement, eyebrow lift and work on her skin and teeth. Plus she is also aiming to raise ₤1 million for brain tumour charities  and has also set up a website where people can bid for dates with celebrities backing her cause. Through raising awareness and funds she says she’ll die ‘happy and beautiful’!

The second instance is the lady of the Big Brother (dis)repute.  British reality TV star Jade Goody has vows to end her life in the glare of the media, after having discovered that her cervical cancer is terminal and she has just months to live. If you’d remember, Jade Goody shot to notoriety after taunting Bollywood star Shilpa Shetty on Celebrity Big Brother, and recently even married her boyfriend Jack Tweedy in a lavish ceremony on Valentine’s Day, if I’m not mistaken. What’s being discussed now is that Jade Goody may die on a reality TV show. But whatever it is, she vows to have her life end in media glare.

O yes, I also remember reading about someone loosing or wanting to lose her virginity on the net and, someone else embracing death in full view of the netizens who had clicked in.

Total rejection of privacy. Choosing to live in the spotlight……….forever.  So, call this ‘spotlightism’????

I think, what I would do under these circumstances, is to crawl into a corner and quietly pass into the darkness….

That apart, it’s like what they say in Kolkata, ‘his his whose whose’ or ‘each each’ (read: to each his own)…
